Director Saran and music director Bharadwaj’s combo is back after a long break since Asal and have the movie rocked like their many yesteryear films did. Read on to know.

Starring Vinay opposite a handful of new faces as female leads, the film is a double act delight from Saran. Twins locking horns even before birth eventually extends to the stage of person’s being swapped. Something similar to Attagaasam, Enga Veetu Pillai, Vel and much more.

Arul Doss and Mayil Samy pillar the film with their performance. Vinay fits in his role and is cool enough to romance more than one female lead. The female performers sadly have been given more scope to flaunt than act.

Though the plot is something which Saran has already dealt with, he has totally stunned us with the way the screenplay has been weaved. The same applies to music director as well. Having produced a considerable bunch of album hits with Saran, Bharadwaj has gone wrong and none of the songs stay in our mind.

The film seems to be a dubbed one in some parts. Placement of songs and fights are irrelevant almost every time. Vinay has done a cool job but the story isn’t good enough to complement his performance.

If Saran would have made a serious effort to bring back his magical screenplay with solid mass moments for hero, Aayirathil Iruvar would have been a great comeback.

Verdict: An average watch that lacks vintage Saran’s magic.
