KV Anand casting Vijay Sethupathi onscreen is a welcome note for audience and this duo have clinched victory. Let’s get in to the point of what have helped them do that?
Director KV Anand has stuck to his strength in this film. Using his prior work experience in journals and film industry, the director has made a good script of exposing the negative side of media, mainly satellite channels.
A fresh storyline, gripping and fast paced screenplay doesn’t give you any reason to complain about the length. Writers Suresh and Balakrishnan have jotted message driven dialogues that draws applause.
TR Rajendhar is not just a commercial element instead he has been used well in the film. Vijay Sethupathi and Madonna Sebastian have done their roles well. THeir makeover could have been a bit better, especially Vijay Sethupathi’s hairdo which thankfully lasted only for a few minutes.
Antony’s cuts are as usual crisp and clear enough to showcase the pacy screenplay without disconnects and cinematographer Abinandan Ramanujam has used the yellow lighting in the night sequences to good effect.
Definitely Kavan is not the best of Hip Hop Tamizha Aadhi’s music however the Bharathiyar Padal, Happy New Year song and background scores are cool enough to entertain.
Verdict: A commercial film with fresh storyline and gripping screenplay.
