Punyakoti the film is based on a famous folksong in Karnataka about a cow that speaks thetruth at all times. The story depicts man-animal conflict in a form that is both entertainingand informative and the film carries the message of honesty and living in harmony withnature. The story is set in Karunadu, a village along the banks of Kaveri. The original sourceof the folk-song is supposed to be from the Indian epic Mahabharata.The plot is set in Karunadu and revolves around a cow that speaks the truth at all times.
One day, Punyakoti is attacked by a tiger in the forest. However, she begs him to let her gofeed her calf and promises to return. Punyakoti feeds her calf and as promised, returns tothe tiger to be eaten. The tiger, moved by her courage and honesty, lets her go never todisturb any of the cows again!
The film has some big names on board. The project is supported by the legendary musicmaestro Sri.Ilaiyaraaja, Actor-director Revathy has lent her voice as Punyakoti, RogerNarayan, last seen in the Kannada film U Turn and Kannada scholar Narasimhamurthyhave also dubbed for Punyakoti.V Ravishankar the Director of Punyakoti is a multimedia expert with over 20 years ofexperience in making content for children. He is also presently employed with Infosys. Raviis spearheading Punyakoti by bringing together a consortium of talented people from film,media and IT fields to bring home the greatness of the mother of all Indo-Germanic languages, Sanskrit.
