Directed by Ramu CHellappa, Enkitta Mothathey brings back the Rajini-Kamal era where fans would fight for the dominance of their on screen idols for dominance in the Tamil film industry.
The film is set in the 80s and so everything else dates back to the same date. Natty plays the lead role besides Sanchitha Shetty and others playing pivotal roles. The film’s plot is interesting for Raji and Kalam fans, especially to those have not to see the Rajini Kamal rivalry in full swing.
High octane dialogues from Natty steal the show and are the entertaining factors that keep the audience interested. Added to this, the life of a cutout painter is something which we haven’t seen and especially in the 80s this profession was at its peak with no flex prints in the scene.
The romance portions aren’t impressive enough. The songs are perfectly scored for the 80s era which brings back the nostalgic tunes of Ilayaraja, Shankar Ganesh and more.
Natty is the show stealer with his body language, dialogue delivery and decent stunt efforts. The background scores are impressive too. The sepia tone maintained by cinematographer Ganesh convinces the film is set in the 80s era.
The screenplay is engaging in most parts but the romance sequences aren’t up to the mark which brings the pace down. THe detailing on which the director has worked on to bring back the 80s set up authentically needs a special mention.
Verdict: A commercial must-watch film for Rajini-Kamal film.
